Bio

Krijn Peters is an international development sociologist specialised in armed conflict and post-war reconstruction, transport services & rural development. Krijn visited Sierra Leone for the first time in 1996 and Liberia in 2000 to conduct research on child soldiers and young combatants during the civil wars. when doing his PhD research in 2002 on post-war reconstruction in Sierra Leone he noticed that many of the ex-combatants became involved in motorcycle taxi riding, a new means of transport at the time in the country. Since then, he became increasingly interested in the impact of improved access on rural development. Krijn is a Professor in International Development and teaches as Swansea University (UK).
